Kenneth Wright
Vice President of Sales and Business Development

Ken has over 40 years of experience working on complex systems in high-pressure environments. His expertise ranges from maintaining a broad range of avionics systems aboard a US naval aircraft carrier to operating and maintaining satellite tracking and communications systems at NASA’s Wallops Island satellite tracking facility on Virginia’s eastern shore. After years of working in such high-pressure environments, it was a natural transition into the world of linear accelerators, where the consequences of failure or delay can be seen by walking into a nearby waiting room.
Ken’s experience in the world of Radiation Oncology is not just professional. As one who has lost both parents to cancer, Ken’s commitment to RAD and its customers is personal. If we’re not helping our clients, they can’t help our families. Ken understands the vital role of state-of-the-art technology in cancer treatment and helps clients to realize the advantages of RAD’s offerings with the expertise of an industry insider and a resolve born of experience.
In addition to his technical accomplishments, Ken brings exceptional business expertise to his role. As a former owner of Oncology Services International, Ken helped grow that company into one of the leading linear accelerator parts and services providers in the US. In fact, Ken and his former company provided and installed RAD’s first linear accelerator used for testing the prototype vault in 2002.
It was a fortuitous meeting, and after working with RAD on and off during the development of their revolutionary vault system, it was ultimately the company’s innovative products and exceptional team that persuaded him to join full-time in 2009. Since then, Ken has helped numerous clients see the potential of RAD’s offerings and believes very strongly in RAD’s ability to help new and existing cancer centers bring the best possible care to patients who deserve all that technology can offer.

Cynthia E. Keppel is the Director for Physics at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. She is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and a Department of Energy Distinguished Scientist Fellow. Her research focuses on the quark-gluon structure of the nucleon, while also considering applications of nuclear physics in medicine. Previously, she was a founding member and Senior Executive Director of the Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute.
Dr. Keppel has been with the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab, formerly CEBAF) in various capacities since 1995. She performed electron scattering experiments to investigate the structure of protons and neutrons. In 2001 she founded the Hampton University Center for Advanced Medical Instrumentation, where scientists at Hampton and Jefferson Lab collaborated to bring technology developed for nuclear and particle physics to nuclear medicine applications. She was pivotal in launching the world’s largest independent proton therapy facility, the Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute. She has been awarded numerous grants, totaling nearly $40M, including a grant to improve breast cancer imaging and therapy. Shielded accelerated partial breast irradiation, a technology developed by Keppel and colleagues, makes post-surgical radiation more feasible for patients. She has authored over a dozen patents used in cancer treatment, including one deployed in the OARtrac system, a machine which helps radiation oncologists monitor dose in therapy for cancer patients, and was awarded a Medical Device Breakthrough Award in 2018. In 2012, Keppel was named Leader of Experimental Hall A at Jefferson Lab, and soon after, Leader of both Halls A and C. Since 2021, Dr. Keppel has led the entire Physics Division of the laboratory as Director.
Dr. Keppel has served on the National Nuclear Science Advisory Committee, the National Institutes of Health National Advisory Research Resources Council, and numerous other national boards. She was, for a number of years, Co-Spokesperson of the Coordinated Theoretical-Experimental Project on Quantum Chromodynamics (CTEQ). Keppel was elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) in 2018 'For leadership on novel experimental techniques to study strong interactions, her contributions to CTEQ from the perspective of Nuclear Physics, and her instrumental role in founding the Hampton University Proton Therapy Center and other work applying Nuclear Physics to Medicine.' Keppel delivered the 2019 APS Distinguished Lectureship on the Applications of Physics. She was awarded the honor for 'pioneering work in proton therapy and for the promotion of the applications of physics to both experts and non-experts.'
Alongside her academic work, Dr. Keppel has mentored high school teachers on nuclear physics, and campaigned to bring recognition to African American and Hispanic physicists. She is passionate about science education and communication and, as such, has given numerous radio and television interviews, including a 2019 TEDx talk.
